(Observer Network News) Not long after Nauru’s lightning cut off of diplomatic relations, the Taiwanese authorities have reported another “diplomatic country” that has undergone a birth change. On January 21st, Taiwan’s United News Network reported that Tuvalu, the so-called Pacific “friend” of the Taiwanese authorities, will hold elections. However, Tuvalu’s “Ambassador to Taiwan” Bikenibeu Paeniu stated that there are rumors within Tuvalu that they may follow Nauru and recognize the People’s Republic of China after the elections, which is equivalent to cutting off diplomatic ties with the Taiwanese authorities. The head of Taiwan’s foreign affairs department, Wu Zhaoxie, quickly responded that the Taiwan authorities and Tuvalu have a “stable friendship”.
